Hi friends,
I know not everyone likes cilantro but I love adding it to many dishes! It’s such a cleansing herb that is rich in phytonutrients, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. Plus it has been shown to bind to toxic metals in the body such as arsenic, cadmium, aluminum etc. together, loosen them and facilitate the excretion of them. If you really don’t like cilantro (or think it tastes like soap), replace with basil or parsley, which are also great herbs! Did you know that if you think cilantro tastes like soap, it actually has to do with your genetics? I don’t know the science behind it but I think that’s super cool!
I use this sauce for everything so it’s about time I shared it on here! It goes great on bbq’d meat, roasted vegetables like carrot, potatoes etc. or as a salad dressing. It’s really so versatile! Plus, it’s full of healthy fats that are essential to my diet.
PS. I’m a Manitoba Hemp Ambassador so they have given you all a code (HEMPAMBASSADOR) for 15% off their site. All of their products are delicious and I incorporate hemp seeds into my diet almost daily! You can click here to go to their website.
PPS. If you are vegan, please sub the goat cheese with 1 avocado. I promise you it will be just as good! (Note: it may not last as long as 4-5 days because of the avocado.
I’d love for you to try my recipe, please tag me on Facebook or Instagram (@balancingandie) so I can follow along :). Please subscribe to my blog to never miss a post!
Notes
If you really can't stand cilantro, sub parsley or basil.
Also if you're vegan, substitute the goat cheese with avocado for a delicious creamy texture.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped cilantro - stems included (packed in) (sub basil or parsley)
- 1/4 cup of plain goat cheese (sub 1 avocado)
- 1 inch piece jalapeno pepper (seeds removed - adjust to your taste)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp fine salt
- 1/4 tsp fine black pepper
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup hemp hearts
- 2/3 cup walnuts
Instructions
- Blend all the ingredients in a blender and adjust to your own taste. If you are sensitive to spice, please start with less and add more as you go. Adjust water for thinner or thicker consistency depending on what you are planning to use it for. Always use less first as it's easily thinned out!
- Serve on roasted vegetables, use as a dipping sauce or whatever else your creativity leads you to!
- Refrigerate any excess in a glass jar for up to 5 days.
