Hi friends,
It never feels like the holidays until I start the Christmas baking and eating all things peppermint, gingerbread etc. This mousse is literally whipped up in less than 5 minutes. It’s so perfect for when you’re having friends over, for Christmas dinner or when the dessert craving kicks in later in the day. You can eat it instantly but I think it tastes best refrigerated for at least 30 minutes but you can also refrigerate for up to 1 day prior to serving. So simple, so delicious and full of healthy fats for you this holiday season.
The best part? No one will even KNOW it’s made with avocados. The decadent flavour will speak for itself. It’s Vegan, Gluten-free, Refined-Sugar free (minus the fun topping but you can omit or substitute) and sure to be a hit at your Christmas table with any picky eater who loves chocolate.
I hope you’ll give this recipe a try! As always, I LOVE seeing your recipe creations. Please tag me on all socials as @balancingandie so I can follow along 🙂 . Notes
Some ideas for topping substitutions: chia seeds, cacao nibs, goji berries, coconut flakes and the list can seriously go on!
You may be able to use a blender if you make more or have a good one but be prepared to scrape the sides often.
Ingredients
- 2 Avocadoes
- 3 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (or liquid sweetener of choice)
- 1/4 cup dairy free milk (I used almond)
Topping (optional):
- 1 small candy cane (crushed)
Instructions
- Blend first 4 ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Occasionally scraping the sides as necessary.
- Divide into 2 ramekins and refrigerate.
- Top with crushed candy cane (or other crunchy topping of choice) prior to serving.
- Enjoy!
